Ketubah

A ketubah (Hebrew: כתובה ; "document"; pl. ketubot) is a special type of Jewish prenuptial agreement. It is considered an integral part of a traditional Jewish marriage, and outlines the rights and responsibilities of the groom, in relation to the bride.  The Ketubah has been looked at as not only holy, but a vital and important document for every jewish wedding. This is why the ketubah continues to be one of the most beautifully crafted Jewish pieces of art. They have been created in different styles with various selections, available here on our site are some examples. After the Ketubah is signed, the bride and groom are joined under the chuppah (the wedding canopy) and the groom partakes in breaking the wedding glass. In the kabbalah it states that The breaking of the wedding glass symbolizes the destruction of the temple in Jerusalem and since the bride and groom are essentially, "One soul in Two bodies" the wedding is symbolic of rebuilding their own temple together as one.
